GUIROMDOM, HAPLOS SA DALAWANG MUKHA NG IISANG BAYAN

Fusing drama and multi-media in Guiromdom, the stage turns gloomy as stories of Delia, blinded in a violent demolition during her childhood, and of Tess, her playmate-turned-rebel, unfold. The play discerns the grounds of the armed conflict between the Philippines’ state forces and the New People’s Army. On the other hand, it takes into account stories of defense and survival of Norwin, a state soldier who had frequent armed encounters with the NPA troops.

Guiromdom (Bikol for ‘memory’) is the central story-telling device of the play. It is a call to remember our fellow Filipinos who lost their lives in this four-decade war. It is a call for everyone to remember how our nation dreamt of a just and peaceful society that roots back to the Spanish era. Now, it is an urgent call for the Government of the Philippines to resume Peace Talks with the National Democratic Front.

The cast is composed of resident actors of Sining Banwa. Sari Saysay writes, directs and designs the stage; Ronald Dolor designs the music; and Ped Waddell choreographs.
